Gallery Notes | Press Release

Rhizomorph is a site-specific installation that visualizes and sonifies the rhizomatic and interconnected nature of subsoil ecosystems. This installation was created for a solo show at Locust Projects gallery in Miami, FL as part of their LAB MFA Residency program, in collaboration with Tyson Houseman.

The installation features a ceiling-hung root system sculpture built from found materials sustainably gathered from surrounding natural areas. The projected visual sequence features microscope and celestial footage to imbue the space with an ethereal and dreamlike atmosphere that communicates parallels between microscopic biology and macroscopic galactic formations.

The soundscape was created with field recordings from locations in the Everglades. The sound platform’s use of transducer speakers communicates sound with an auditory element heard by the ear, as well as a physical vibrating element that may be felt by the whole body.

Created for Locust Projects LAB MFA Residency program. More information linked HERE.
